About the breed

The Netherland Dwarf is among the smallest of all domestic rabbit breeds, developed in the Netherlands in the early twentieth century by crossing small wild rabbits with existing domestic stock. It is distinguished by its compact, rounded body, short ears and a notably large head relative to its tiny frame, giving it a perpetually youthful, baby-like appearance.

Though diminutive and appealing, the Netherland Dwarf is lively and can be skittish, benefiting from gentle, patient handling and early socialisation to build trust. Like all rabbits, it needs a diet based on unlimited hay, space to exercise and companionship. The short, dense coat is low-maintenance and needs only occasional grooming.
