About the breed

Developed along the hills of the Anglo-Scottish border, the Border Collie is widely regarded as the most intelligent of all dog breeds. Bred for the demanding task of herding sheep, it works with an intense, crouching 'eye' and remarkable responsiveness to the shepherd's commands.

This is a dog that needs a purpose: without ample physical exercise and mental stimulation, the Border Collie can become restless and develop problem behaviours. It excels in dog sports such as agility, flyball and obedience. The medium-length coat, which may be smooth or rough, requires regular brushing to stay in good condition.
